About the Billboard Music Awards

Nobody votes at the Billboard Music Awards: the winners come from Billboard magazine's data: the year's sales, streaming, radio play and touring.

They have been presented since 1990, with a break from 2007 to 2010. The 2024 edition was a pre-recorded special rather than a live show, and there was no 2025 edition.

The history on this page covers Top Artist, the award for the artist with the best chart performance of the year.
