📖 Biography
Michael Jackson (1958-2009) is the most successful and influential artist in the history of popular music. Born in Gary, Indiana, he began performing with The Jackson 5 at age 5 and embarked on a solo career that would break every record in the industry.
Off the Wall (1979) was a revolution in disco and funk. Thriller (1982) — produced by Quincy Jones — remains the best-selling album of all time with an estimated 70 million copies worldwide. The accompanying music videos transformed the medium into an art form and launched MTV. Bad (1987) and Dangerous (1991) confirmed his commercial dominance, while his live performances — built around the moonwalk, precision choreography and extraordinary stagecraft — set a standard that has never been matched.
He held the record for most Grammy wins in a single night (eight, in 1984), won 13 Grammys in total and received both the Grammy Legend Award and Lifetime Achievement Award. His influence on pop, R&B, dance and music video is immeasurable.
