Karol G — born Carolina Giraldo Navarro in Medellín, Colombia — is the most-streamed female Latin American artist in streaming history and one of the most important global music phenomena of the current era. She began recording at 14 and released her first professional tracks in 2010 before signing with Universal Music Latin Entertainment.
Her breakthrough came with Tusa with Nicki Minaj (2019), which became the longest-running Latin chart number one by a female artist at the time. But it was BICHOTA (2020) and especially Mañana Será Bonito (2023) — the first album by a woman to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 since Beyoncé's Lemonade in 2016 — that confirmed her global status.
She headlined Coachella in 2024 and performed the first stadium show by a Colombian female artist. Her artistic evolution from reggaeton to a broader Latin pop palette reflects both personal growth and a keen understanding of global musical trends.
