📖 Biography

Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, known as Bad Bunny (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, 1994), is the non-English-speaking artist most streamed in Spotify history. He was working as a supermarket bagger when he uploaded his first tracks to SoundCloud; within two years he was collaborating with Drake and J Balvin.

His sound is a synthesis of trap, reggaeton, bachata, bolero and punk — genres he moves between freely, often within a single album. X 100PRE (2018) was the first all-Spanish album to top the Billboard 200. YHLQMDLG (2020) broke streaming records on release day. El Último Tour del Mundo (2020) became the first Spanish-language album to debut at number one on the Billboard 200.

Beyond music, Bad Bunny is one of the most powerful cultural figures in Latin America. He has spoken openly about gender norms, wearing skirts and nail polish in a genre not known for such openness. In 2022 he headlined Coachella — the first Latino artist to do so solo — and in 2023 he was again Spotify's most-streamed artist globally for the third consecutive year.
