Diamond League — what it is and how it works
The Diamond League is the annual outdoor athletics circuit run by World Athletics since 2010. Every summer it brings the best track and field specialists to a series of meetings across Europe, Asia and America that double as preparation and showcase between major championships.
Format and competition system
A series of meetings through the season where athletes collect points per discipline; the best in each event qualify for the final, which awards the Diamond Trophy.
Honours and dominant teams
The circuit has been dominated by figures such as Mondo Duplantis in the pole vault, Faith Kipyegon in the middle distances and Karsten Warholm in the 400 metres hurdles.
