📖 Biography

Beyoncé is the most Grammy-awarded artist in history and one of the most complete performers of all time. Born in Houston, Texas, in 1981, she began her career in Destiny's Child before embarking on a solo career that has made her one of the defining cultural figures of the 21st century.

Dangerously in Love (2003), B'Day (2006) and I Am... Sasha Fierce (2008) established her as the dominant force in contemporary R&B and pop. But it was the visual album Lemonade (2016) — a meditation on infidelity, race and Black womanhood in America — that elevated her from pop star to cultural institution. Renaissance (2022), a tribute to Black queer dance music from house to Afrobeats, confirmed her as the most artistically ambitious mainstream artist of the era.

Her live shows — most famously the 2018 Coachella performance documented as Homecoming — are considered among the greatest in the history of live music. She holds the record for most Grammy wins (32 and counting) and has been central to conversations about race, feminism and artistic ownership throughout her career.
