Dawn FM is The Weeknd's most conceptual album and perhaps his finest since After Hours. The premise — a late-night radio station accompanying transition towards death — is unsettling in the right hands, and here it works. The 80s retro-futurist production coexists with dark synthesisers and processed voices creating a unique atmosphere. Jim Carrey as narrator is a risk that pays off. An album that demands complete listening.
