AM is the record where Arctic Monkeys decided rock could sound like 3am and Led Zeppelin simultaneously. James Ford's production is heavy and creaking; the riffs on "R U Mine?" and "Do I Wanna Know?" are the kind that enter your head and stay. Turner has a rock crooner pose here that works brilliantly. It may not be their most personal record, but it is their most effective.
