Brad Bird directed the most sophisticated Pixar film in terms of artistic philosophy: a defense of individual talent and a critique of the critic as an arbiter of merit.

✍️ Our review

9.4/10 ★★★★★

Ratatouille is Pixar's film about art: the idea that "anyone can cook" doesn't mean that everyone is equal, but that talent can appear in any unexpected place. Anton Ego's final monologue is the best critique of art criticism that cinema has written.
