My Neighbor Totoro

Satsuki and her little sister Mei move to a Japanese countryside house with their father while their mother recovers in the hospital. In the nearby forest, they discover Totoro, a huge and silent forest spirit that only children can see. Hayao Miyazaki filmed in 1988 a movie without a villain or conventional conflict that turns out to be one of the most emotionally powerful in the history of animation: childhood, the fear of losing a mother, and Japanese nature as a refuge.

My Neighbor Totoro is the movie with which Miyazaki redefined what children's animation can be: no villain, no forced conflict, pure contemplation of childhood and nature. The Catbus is one of the most beloved characters in anime history.
