Number of the Beast
📖 About this album
The album that established Iron Maiden as kings of heavy metal. With Bruce Dickinson making his debut as vocalist, it includes Run to the Hills, the title track, and Hallowed Be Thy Name — a recording that combined power, melody and lyrics drawing on horror literature and cinema.
📝 Our review
The Number of the Beast cemented Iron Maiden as the reference of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. With Bruce Dickinson leading a complete studio album for the first time, the record has a different energy: more theatrical, more ambitious. "Run to the Hills" and the title track remain genre anthems that still sound powerful. The rhythm section of Harris and Murray works with a precision that metal of the era rarely achieved.
