The Dark Knight Rises

Eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, Bruce Wayne comes out of retirement when the masked terrorist Bane threatens to destroy Gotham. Nolan closes his trilogy with operatic ambition, although at the cost of some narrative inconsistencies. The show is impressive, Tom Hardy creates a physically terrifying villain, and the emotional ending satisfies Wayne's trajectory. A grand finale for the most influential superhero trilogy of the century.
