Arévalo makes his directorial debut with a story that blends neighborhood thriller with psychological drama, and he does it without falling into folklore or manichaeism. Here there are no good or bad, only broken characters carrying decisions they couldn't—or wouldn't—avoid. Roberto Álamo portrays Curro, an ex-con who returns home with the same rage he left with, but now with less patience. Alongside him, Luis Tosar and Antonio de la Torre complete a trio of actors who seem born for this script: dirty, direct, uncompromising.

The best is not the pace —which it has—, nor the dialogues —which cut like knives—, but how the film forces you to look where you don't want to. There are no morals, no easy redemption. Just the weight of what could have been and wasn't, and the certainty that sometimes forgiveness comes too late. Or never. If you're looking for Spanish cinema that doesn't shy away from its rawness, this is what you've been waiting for. And if you weren't looking for it, it's worse for you.
