The Babadook

A widowed mother finds a disturbing children's book in her house about the Babadook, a creature that seems to come to life. As her son insists the monster exists, she struggles with her own unresolved grief. Jennifer Kent turns horror into a metaphor: the Babadook is the grief that consumes you if you don't face it. Psychologically dense, viscerally terrifying, and emotionally devastating.

Jennifer Kent uses horror as a metaphor for grief and motherhood. Essie Davis in a heartbreaking performance. Intelligent horror.
