F.A.M.E. marked Maluma's attempt to consolidate beyond pure reggaeton, incorporating Latin trap and ballads to broaden his fanbase. There are solid moments—"Marinero" has real punch—but the whole suffers from the usual unevenness of transitional projects. The production is competent and commercially effective. More a stepping stone in his career than a complete artistic statement.
