Natalia Lafourcade is the most important Mexican singer and composer of her generation and one of the most celebrated figures in contemporary Latin American music. Born in Mexico City in 1984, her career has evolved from the alternative pop of her early days to a body of work that explores folk, bolero, son jarocho, and traditional Mexican music with a unique poetic sensibility.
Her albums Hasta la raíz (2015) and Musas (2017, double volume) have established her as a top-level international artist: the first, a celebration of her musical roots; the second, a dialogue with the great boleros and Latin American songs of the 20th century recorded alongside Los Macorinos. Both have earned her multiple Latin Grammys and place her in the tradition of Agustín Lara and Chabuca Granda.
