Marco Antonio Muñiz, known as Marc Anthony (New York, 1968), is the best-selling salsa artist of all time. Son of Puerto Rican parents, he grew up in Spanish Harlem in New York and began his career as a freestyle and soul songwriter and singer before being discovered by producer Sergio George, who steered him toward salsa. His salsa debut album, Otra Nota (1993), was an immediate success.
He has sold more than 12 million albums, has five platinum records and has won two Grammys and eight Latin Grammys. His albums Todo a su tiempo (1995), Contra la corriente (1997) and Libre (2001) are considered genre classics. He has also enjoyed a successful acting career, with appearances in high‑profile films and Broadway stage productions.
Marc Anthony is also known for his philanthropic work in Puerto Rico, especially after Hurricane Maria in 2017, when he organized the benefit concert One Voice: Somos Live! which raised 35 million dollars for the island’s reconstruction. He is co‑founder of Magnus Media, an entertainment company focused on Latin American talent.
