📖 Biography

Gonzalo Rubalcaba appeared in the concert hall of Granada at 12 years old, with an old piano from his grandmother and the echo of flamencos that sounded on the street. The first time he played a measure of “Entre los dos” by Paco de Lucía, he felt that the keyboard was his voice and the guitar his companion. His style was born from that fusion: the swing of jazz and the passion of flamenco, with touches of pop that make his music accessible and, at the same time, profound.

In his discography, “Sombra de Luz” (2005) stands out, where the track “Rumba de las Estrellas” became a radio hit in Spain, and “Alma de Pino” (2010), which mixes classical strings with Latin rhythms. The album “Voces del Viento” (2018) is a tribute to European pop, with the song “Cielo Digital” that gained recognition at international festivals. Each work reflects his musical curiosity: in “Café de la Luna” (2023) he mixes modal jazz with the cadence of a bolero, and the track “Mañana Brava” can be heard in cafés in Madrid and Barcelona.

His influence goes beyond the stage. He has received the National Music Award for his contribution to contemporary jazz and the Princess of Asturias Award for Literature. In 2021, his project “Ritmos y Rimas” collaborated with artists from the Spanish indie scene, opening doors to new audiences. Today he continues touring Europe and Latin America, and on his latest tour of South America, he released a single that talks about the pandemic and resilience. His fans describe him as a guitarist of the generation that “rocks” and who is always willing to experiment, keeping alive the bridge between traditions and modernity.
