📖 Synopsis
The island of Salina, in the early 1950s. Mario Ruoppolo is an unskilled fisherman who lands a job as postman for the island's only distinguished resident: the poet Pablo Neruda, in political exile. Through poetry lessons and the power of metaphor—which the postman learns in an attempt to win the heart of Beatrice—a friendship develops between the humble man and the famous poet, transforming both of their lives. Massimo Troisi played his final role knowing he suffered from a serious heart condition. He died twelve hours after filming ended.
