📖 Synopsis
Salvador Mallo is a film director in physical and creative decline who revisits old episodes from his life —his impoverished childhood in 1960s Spain, his first intellectual passion, the mother he never managed to forgive— while reconnecting with actors and lovers from the past. Pedro Almodóvar filmed his most autobiographical movie, with Antonio Banderas playing his alter ego, in a blend of melancholy, tenderness, and affirmation of his own story that also stands as the most honest declaration of his cinema.
✍️ Our review
Pain and Glory is Almodóvar speaking directly about himself for the first time. Banderas delivers the performance of his life portraying the director who launched his career. The relationship with his mother, addiction, desire: Almodóvar without filters.
