Sherlock Holmes and John Watson live in 21st-century London. Holmes is a consulting detective with a hypnotic intellect and zero empathy who works with Scotland Yard when cases are dull enough to be interesting. Watson is a military doctor freshly back from Afghanistan who becomes his chronicler, roommate, and, over time, the moral anchor that prevents Holmes from self-destructing. Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss updated Conan Doyle with a dazzling visual aesthetic.

Sherlock revolutionized the television detective genre with its aesthetics and speed. Cumberbatch creates a Holmes who is equally charismatic and insufferable. The quality is irregular depending on the season, but it's always visually stunning.
