The Bear - Season 1

Carmy Berzatto, a chef trained in the world's best restaurants, returns to Chicago after his older brother's suicide to take charge of the Original Beef, a sandwich shop where chaos and family are inseparable. The first season of The Bear turns the kitchen into a metaphor for grief, anxiety, and masculine identity with a frantic pace that resembles cinéma vérité. The seventh episode, 'Review,' shot almost in a single sequence, is already one of the most studied in recent American television.

The kitchen as a metaphor for anxiety and mourning. Jeremy Allen White builds a broken character in almost silence. The episode 'Review' is one of the best in television history. Essential.
