Rumours is the album Fleetwood Mac recorded while the band was falling apart: two broken couples, unbearable tensions, and yet a collection of pop-rock songs with uncommon clarity and elegance. "Go Your Own Way," "The Chain," "Dreams" and "Gold Dust Woman" reached a massive audience without losing emotional depth. The polished production by Ken Caillat and Richard Dashut perfectly fits the Californian sound of the seventies. Rarely does personal chaos produce something so ordered.
