Nevermind
📖 About this album
Nirvana's second album, released in 1991. The record that brought Seattle grunge to the global mainstream, combining punk distortion with direct melodies in a way that sounded like both revolution and radio. It changed the course of 90s rock.
📝 Our review
Nevermind arrived in 1991 and reconfigured the rock landscape. Butch Vig's production shone where other grunge preferred grime. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was the torpedo that sank hair metal, but the album is more solid than that shadow allows: "Come as You Are", "Lithium" and "Polly" are perfect songs in different registers. Cobain knew how to write melodies even if his pose suggested otherwise.
