📝 Our review
Héctor Lavoe had a way of phrasing that made any lyric sound like he was inventing it in the moment. La Voz, his debut, captured that before he became a legend. Fania production with Willie Colón arrangements surrounds his voice with a salsa that combines ferocity and melancholy. "El malo" is a genre classic; the rest of the album sustains that level. An extraordinary debut.
