Fifth Eagles album, released in 1976. An ironic portrait of the American dream and Los Angeles hedonism. The title track with its closing guitar duel is one of the most recognisable songs in rock history.

📝 Our review

Hotel California defines 70s California soft rock, for better and worse. The production is exquisitely polished and the guitar arrangements on the title track remain a benchmark. But there is something slightly antiseptic about the whole, too calculated. Even so, "Life in the Fast Lane" and "New Kid in Town" maintain energy. A classic that is one for solid reasons.
