Born to Run is Springsteen building his myth in real time: rock as a promise of escape, redemption, something better across the highway. The Jon Landau production sounds like an American wall of sound. «Jungleland», «Thunder Road» and the title track are epic set pieces that barely show their seams. The album that turned a kid from New Jersey into the Boss of American rock.
