Nocturnal Animals

Susan, an art gallery director, receives the manuscript of her ex-husband's novel, which he dedicates to her. The violent story she reads intertwines with her memories of their marriage and the empty, elegant life she has built. Tom Ford directs this mirrored thriller with chilling, unsettling elegance, turning it into a meditation on guilt, betrayal, and art as revenge. Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal deliver outstanding performances.

Tom Ford as a filmmaker would be reason enough for a glowing review, but the film is also brilliant. A dual performance by Gyllenhaal, and Shannon is terrifying.
