The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

The final chapter of Peter Jackson's trilogy: Frodo and Sam arrive at Mount Doom pursued by Gollum while Aragorn leads the army of Gondor and Rohan in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. Winner of eleven Academy Awards —a record shared with Ben-Hur and Titanic—, the film closes with the largest battle in the history of fantasy cinema and an epilogue that honors the melancholic farewell of Tolkien's book.

The Return of the King is the perfect epic conclusion to the greatest literary adaptation in cinema. Eleven well-deserved Oscars. The Battle of the Pelennor Fields remains a technical milestone. The long and honest epilogue stays true to the original source.
