📖 Synopsis
The concierge Gustave H. runs the Grand Budapest Hotel with exquisite eccentricity in the fictional country of Zubrowka, in the years leading up to World War II. When he is accused of the murder of an elderly client, he flees with his lobby boy Zero to prove his innocence and recover the Renaissance painting that the deceased had bequeathed to him. Wes Anderson built his most elaborate comedy with a structure of stories within stories and a visual palette of pink and blue velvet.
✍️ Our review
Wes Anderson at the height of his singularity: symmetrical composition, inimitable dialogue, and Ralph Fiennes in the role of a lifetime. Comedy and melancholy in perfect balance. The most accessible and adorable of his filmography.
