Job & Employment Chat

It was a rainy Tuesday night when Ana, a 28‑year‑old graphic designer from Madrid, stumbled into the room after a coffee break. She typed “¿Dónde trabajo con diseño gráfico?” and the screen lit up with a flurry of replies. A veteran from Barcelona offered a link to a freelance portal, a young coder from Valencia suggested a portfolio hack, and a retired teacher from Seville just laughed, “You’ll find a job if you ask the right people.” She stayed, because the room answered questions in a way that felt like a chat with an old friend.

The chat never stays quiet. One evening someone asked if it’s better to move to Berlin or stay in Madrid for a UX job, and the debate went on for 45 minutes, with memes about “café de la zona” and “el tráfico de la M30.” A week later a user from Santiago de Chile shared a résumé template that worked in Latin America, while a newbie from Sevilla complained about Spanish bureaucracy. Between the dry humor of “¿Cuándo termina la pandemia?” and the sincere tips about networking, the room feels like a living résumé office.

No other room on ChatZona has that mix of accents and inside jokes. The regulars swap “el que tiene el 0 de la palabra” for the person who always mispronounces “café” as “kafé.” Every Friday at 21:00, a “Taco Tuesday” thread pops up, and everyone shares their favorite local dish, even if they’re on a bus in Valencia. The unofficial rule is: if you send a meme about the Spanish “mañana” philosophy, you automatically earn a “sponsor” status for the week. It’s a place where the Spanish, Catalan, and Latin American voices blend like a good salsa.

Jump in right now—no sign‑up needed, just pick a nickname and hit the server. ChatZona has been running IRC since 2007, so the connection is fast and reliable. Whether you’re on a phone or a laptop, you’ll find someone ready to chat within minutes. It would be unusual if nobody replied within the first two minutes.
