Saldías Chat

It’s 21:15 on a rainy Tuesday and Paco, a 32‑year‑old barista from Granada, is typing into his phone from the corner of a quiet café. He’s scrolling through ChatZona’s list of rooms, eyes snagging on “Saldías.” He remembers the first time he joined: a friend had slipped a link into a group chat, promising “the best gossip about your hometown.” He laughed, clicked, and now, months later, he comes back every evening to see if his favorite “el chisme del pueblo” has evolved.

In Saldías, the chat is a mosaic of ordinary and extraordinary. One night, a user from Madrid asks whether the local football club’s new striker will be worth the transfer fee, sparking a heated debate that drifts into a side‑track about the best tapas in Castilla‑La Mancha. Another evening, a group of retirees from Sevilla shares recipes for “tortilla de la abuela” while a young entrepreneur from Barcelona asks for advice on setting up a freelance graphic design business. Dry humor flows freely, and when a member from Valencia posts a photo of the new bus route, the room erupts into a nostalgic discussion about the old tram that once crossed the city.

No other room offers that particular blend of regional pride and friendly banter. The unofficial “Saldías Hours” start precisely at 19:00 local time, when the chat lights up with a chorus of “¡Buenas!” and a running joke about the “saldías” of the city’s mayor. Every Thursday at 21:00, a ritual begins: someone posts a meme titled “Si la calle fuera un río, esta sería la corriente de la Saldías.” The mix of Andalusian sarcasm, Catalan wit, and Basque seriousness creates a rhythm that only long‑time participants understand.

Just open your browser or launch the IRC client, type your nickname, and hit enter. No sign‑ups, no fees, no ads. ChatZona has been humming since 2007, and Saldías is one of its most familiar rooms.
