Pulianas Chat

It’s 22:00 on a rainy Saturday and Carlos, a 27‑year‑old graphic designer from Sevilla, stumbles into the room after a late shift. He pulls up his phone, types “#Pulianas” into ChatZona, and the familiar chorus of greetings greets him. “¡Buenas, Carlos!” someone shouts. He remembers the first time he typed that command in 2009, when the room was just a handful of locals chatting about fútbol scores. He returns because the conversation never stops, and the jokes feel like a second home.

In #Pulianas the chatter jumps from the latest La Liga drama to whether the new Madrid mayor will actually improve public transport. A regular named Ana from Zaragoza keeps posting memes about “La Sagrada Familia’s renovation cost” while another user from Valencia asks for advice on finding a job in Barcelona. There’s a heated debate about whether the new Spanish tax reform will affect freelancers, and someone throws in a dry joke about the “taxman’s new haircut.” The room is a mix of nostalgia for hometown festivals, practical tips for everyday life, and occasional philosophical musings on Spanish identity.

What sets #Pulianas apart is the blend of regional accents that crackle across the chat. You’ll hear a Galician “pola” slip into a Castilian “poco,” and a Catalan “què passa” turns into a Basque “nola dago.” The regulars have an inside joke: every Friday at 23:00, the “pulianas” meme of the day is posted automatically by a bot, and the first person to quote it gets a virtual trophy. Some of the longest‑running traditions include the “café” thread where people share their best Spanish coffee spots, and the “memorias” thread that never runs out of anecdotes from the 2000s.

No registration is needed—just choose a nickname and hit enter. Whether you’re on mobile or desktop, the connection is instant. ChatZona has been running real IRC since 2007, so you can jump straight into the conversation. If you’re not there, it would be unusual if nobody replied within the first two minutes.
