Novales Chat

It’s midnight in Madrid and Carlos, a 34‑year‑old barista from the suburbs of Madrid, clicks the “Novales” button for the third time that week. He’s chasing the same question that keeps popping up on his phone: “¿Dónde está el mejor café de la zona?” The first time he landed here, a friend had mentioned that the room had a “mysterious sense of humor” and that someone had once posted a meme about a barista who could brew a perfect espresso using only a paper cup. Now he’s back, coffee in hand, hoping to snag a recommendation or at least a laugh.

Once inside, the chatter jumps from one hot topic to the next. A regular named Ana throws down a challenge: “Who would win, Mbappé or Vinicius?” and the room erupts in a blend of dry wit and fervent debate. Someone else asks for career advice, “Is it worth moving to Berlin for a tech job?” while another user, a retired teacher from Sevilla, shares a nostalgic tale about the old market stalls that used to line the street. The tone oscillates between friendly teasing, earnest support, and the occasional nostalgic monologue about the old town’s cobblestones.

The room has a rhythm all its own. Every Friday night at 21:00, a silent countdown begins as the chat fills with a peculiar ritual: a stream of emojis that spell out “¡Hola, Novales!” in alternating accents, a nod to the mix of Castilian, Andalusian, and Catalan voices that weave through the conversation. Only the veterans know the inside joke about the “finca” that never exists, yet everyone pretends it does. The unofficial “quiet hours” between 02:00 and 03:00 are when the most candid stories surface—tales of lost luggage, unexpected friendships, and the occasional confession that someone has been in the room since 2007.

Just type the nickname you like into ChatZona’s client and you’re in. No registration, no ads, just a handful of keys on your keyboard. The server has been running on real IRC since 2007, so the connection feels almost tangible. If you’re looking for a place that feels like home, Novales is waiting—because the moment you send that first message, someone will almost certainly reply within two minutes.
