Llodio Chat

Sunday afternoon and the room fills up twenty minutes before kick‑off, just like in the old cafés of Llodio. Luis, a 32‑year‑old accountant from the city, logs on from his kitchen table with a cold beer in hand, his phone buzzing with a new message from his brother about a local football match. He remembers the first time he dropped in a few years ago, hearing the murmur of locals debating the best tapas place, and he’s been coming back ever since—because here he can shout “¡Olé!” without being interrupted by a noisy neighbor.

In the chat, the topics swing as fast as the ball. One minute it’s a heated debate over whether Mbappé or Vinicius can win the next Champions League title; the next, someone asks for advice on how to get a Spanish work visa after a stint in Berlin. A regular, Marta, always brings a joke about the “mañana” attitude, and the room erupts in laughter before the moderator steers the conversation back to the game. Late at night, a group of friends organizes a “virtual watch party,” sharing links and live commentary while others keep the discussion flowing with nostalgic stories about the 1990s internet.

What sets this room apart is its unique blend of accents and inside jokes that only the old‑timer users understand. A phrase like “¡Qué rabo de queso!” pops up whenever a match gets boring, and the unspoken rule is that every fifth message must contain a reference to the local cider. The unofficial hours—mid‑night to 3 a.m.—are when the chat turns into a confessional corner, where people vent about their jobs or share the latest gossip from their hometown, all while the screen flickers with the glow of their laptops.

Just type your nickname into the ChatZona client—no registration required. Whether you’re on a desktop or a phone, you can hop in instantly. ChatZona has been running on real IRC since 2007, so the connection is as reliable as a good bar conversation. Once you’re in, it would be unusual if nobody replied within the first two minutes.
