Latinchat Madrid

It’s a Saturday night and Juan is at his home in the Malasaña neighborhood, eating a potato omelette while scrolling through his phone. He’s met his friends at a bar on Calle de la Cava Alta to grab a drink and decide what to do next. But first, he wants to check out his favorite room on ChatZona, "Latinchat Madrid", to see what’s happening there.

In "Latinchat Madrid" you’ll find everything you need to know to live in the city. Topics range from budget-friendly restaurant recommendations in the center (where to get a good potato omelette at a reasonable price?) to tips on navigating the city without wasting time on public transport. Football is also covered, with mixed opinions on Real Madrid and Atlético matches. And of course, the best spots to go out at night, whether in Chueca or at the Palacio de los Deportes.

What sets this room apart is that it’s full of people from Madrid and Latin Americans living in the city, who know how to move around their neighborhoods and know the best places to eat, drink, and have fun. There are no forums or taboo topics: you can talk about work, the best spots for coffee, the latest music scene in Salamanca. Practical advice is shared, like where to find parking in the center or how to avoid pedestrian zones in the Barrio de las Letras.

To join "Latinchat Madrid" you don’t need to register or choose a complicated nickname. You can connect from your mobile or PC and start chatting with the room’s people. ChatZona is a Spanish-speaking IRC network that’s been active since 2007, with a variety of rooms. And "Latinchat Madrid" is one of them, a meeting place for Madrileños and Latin Americans in the city, where the conversation flows like in a bar on Calle de la Princesa on a Saturday night.
