Gelsa Chat

It’s 22:30 on a rainy Tuesday when Marta, a 32‑year‑old graphic designer from Seville, finally decides to open ChatZona and type “Gelsa.” She’s scrolling through her inbox, annoyed at the endless spam, and sees a friend’s meme about the new La Liga season. A quick “¡Hola!” later, she’s in a room that already feels like home, the chat buzzing with familiar nicknames and the distant click of keyboards.

The conversation starts with a heated debate over who will win the next Copa del Rey: a quick back‑and‑forth about Elche vs. Real Betis, followed by a side discussion on the best tapas in Madrid. Someone brings up a job opening in Valencia and asks for advice, while another user shares a photo of the latest street art in Bilbao. A few minutes later, the room erupts into a nostalgic thread about the old “Café del Pueblo” in Zaragoza, and a quick joke about the notorious “Gelsa” coffee machine that never works.

What sets this room apart is the mix of accents that sound like a single chorus. You’ll hear a Catalan with a slight Valencian twist, a Basque who drops a “tx” in the middle of every sentence, and a Castilian who keeps correcting himself about “vosotros.” The regulars have a running joke that every time the server hiccups, a “Gelsa” is born. There’s an unwritten rule that the room goes quiet at 03:00 CET, only to be resurrected by a meme about the “Gelsa” mascot, a cartoon dog that supposedly lives in the server’s core. Those nights are legendary.

Getting in is as simple as opening the ChatZona app or visiting the web client. Pick a nickname—no registration required—and type /join Gelsa. Whether you’re on a phone at the bus stop or on a desktop at home, the room is ready. You’ll almost certainly hear a reply within two minutes, because everyone is used to the rhythm of the chat and ready to dive into the next story.
