Erasmus Chat

Where can you meet other international students? Lucía has just arrived in Madrid from Colombia and is looking for connections. She enters the Erasmus Chat room from her dorm, excited and a bit nervous. The variety of countries and cultures represented overwhelms her, but it also makes her feel alive.

Conversation topics are varied, from debates about the best European city to study in to restaurant and bar recommendations in university cities. Someone asks about work in Berlin, and several users share their experiences and advice on how to find a job in the German capital. A user shares a funny anecdote about their attempt to order food in German, which sparks a round of laughter and joking comments. The tone is friendly and collaborative, with a sharp touch of humor.

What sets the Erasmus Chat room apart? Its "exchange nights," in which users take turns sharing stories and advice about their respective countries and cultures. This custom has been developing for years and has become a central element of the room's identity. Users have developed internal language full of idioms and references that only they understand, which creates a sense of belonging and camaraderie among regular participants.

Want to join? There's no need to register; just choose a nickname and connect from your phone or PC. ChatZona, the platform that hosts this room, has been running with real IRC technology since 2007, which guarantees a live and dynamic chat experience. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and it would be unusual if no one responded to you in the first two minutes. So don't hesitate to jump into the conversation and make new friends among international students.
