Ende wrote this fable for children that could not be more adult. The grey men who steal time are more recognizable today than when the book was published: consultants, productivity apps, the constant pressure to be efficient. Momo, the girl who simply knows how to listen, proposes a form of resistance that remains radical fifty years on. It works equally well at ten and at forty. One of those books worth rereading.
